Congratulations to California native and Southern Methodist University Austin Smotherman on earning his first career PGA TOUR victory at the Bank of Utah Championship. Stringing together blistering rounds of 63-62-65-68, Smotherman outpaced the field by two strokes with a clutch 26-under-par finish in his 100th start on the PGA TOUR.
Smotherman, who plays with a SuperStroke Zenergy TLT Pistol 1.0 putter grip, led the field in Strokes Gained: Total (14.219) and Birdies (32). In the final round, he overcame a double bogey on the 13th hole by making three birdies down the stretch.
With this victory, Smotherman takes home the $1,080,000 winner’s purse and 500 FedExCup points.
