Johnson was playing with one of SuperStroke’s Traxion Series putter grips, the Pistol GT 1.0.
Johnson started the last day of the tournament with a five-stroke lead and maintained his composure throughout the final round. He drained a clutch, 21-foot putt on the 13th to continue his par streak and finished the back-nine with a birdie on 18.
This is Johnson’s 3rd win this season, and 23rd career win on the PGA Tour. Johnson closed with a 2-under 70 to finish at 21-under and 269-total for the tournament. This win also secured Johnson with the FedEx Cup and a $15 million purse.
SuperStroke had another impressive week, with all three top finishers at the Tour Championship playing SuperStroke. Johnson’s win adds to the list of winners at the Tour Championship with four of the last seven champions using SuperStroke grips.
SuperStroke also had a winner on the European Tour at the Andalucia Masters Tournament. The tournament had a 2-way tie going into the 18th hole as the leader made a 2-putt par to clinch the win. This is the first time an American has won at Valderama Golf Course since 1999 and is his first win on the European Tour.
