It was an impressive showing this weekend from Joaquin Niemann. Niemann went wire-to-wire at Riviera Country Club to claim the second win of his young PGA TOUR career and jump into the top-10 of the FedExCup standings.
Recording back-to-back 63s to open the tournament, Niemann was able to open a lead on the rest of the field that would prove insurmountable. Despite several Sunday charges from his competitors a comfortable final round of even par 71 was enough to see Niemann to a two-shot victory. Niemann finished the week with 21 birdies and three eagles.
His final total of 19-under-par fell just one stroke shy of the tournaments all-time scoring record which has stood since 1985. He also became the first wire-to-wire winner of The Genesis Invitational since 1969.
On the greens, Niemann relied on SuperStroke’s Traxion Flatso 2.0 putter grip. Featuring a distinct pentagonal profile with a wide, flat front grip shape with five pronounced edges, the Traxion Flatso offers incredible stability, feel and feedback.
It wasn’t just Niemann who relied on the brand’s grips to deliver stellar performances. SuperStroke ambassadors Jordan Spieth finished inside the top 40, posting scores of 6-under-par and 4-under-par respectively.
In addition to the company’s leading putter grips, Spieth uses the SuperStroke S-Tech club grips.
Designed for golfers who demand the ultimate in feedback and control, the S-Tech club grip is constructed using a premium engineered rubber compound that provides just the right amount of softness and tack. The added Cross-Traction surface texture offers incredible non-slip performance in all weather conditions.
The TOUR will now head across the country to the Sunshine State as golfers prepare to take on the Florida swing, beginning with The Honda Classic in Palm Beach gardens.
